Head out to the Midlands Plant & Flower Festival this weekend for a great selection of Certified SC Grown plants, flowers and specialty food products. Thousands are expected for the festival that starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday (April 18-21) at the State Farmers Market, located at 3483 Charleston Hwy., West Columbia.

Thursday-Saturday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Nationwide, treatment agencies say the new demand could swamp the existing system that's already full to overflowing in many places.

As Tax Deadline Approaches, Remember Your State Forests

As the deadline draws near, the South Carolina Forestry Commission is urging tax filers to remember forests when submitting their state returns.

 

This tax season marks the third year taxpayers anticipating a refund will have an option to contribute all or part of it to sustaining state owned forestlands.  The General Assembly passed an income tax check off creating the SC State Forests Fund during the 2010 Legislative Session.

Troopers arrest driver after hit-and-run crash killed motorcyclist

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS)- The South Carolina Highway Patrol has arrested the driver of a vehicle who investigators say drove away from a crash that killed a motorcycle rider in Sumter County.

30-year-old Jacqueline Mesidor of Rembert is being held at the Sumter-Lee Detention Center.

Troopers say the crash occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 521 and Dinkins Mill Road near Rembert.
