Team Shaw is opening to the public for the Shaw Air Expo, May 5-6.

Gates will be open at 7:30 a.m. each day. Aircraft performances will begin at 11 a.m. and are scheduled to finish at 4 p.m. Gates will close at 5 p.m. Admission to the Shaw Air Expo and parking are free. Bus transportation will be provided at no charge from the designated parking areas. Additional parking is located at Sumter Mall with free bus transportation to and from the base.

“We want to open our gates to the local community so that we can show off our fine Airmen and Soldiers that reside on this base, and show you what we do every single day,” said Col. Clay Hall, 20th Fighter Wing commander. “On behalf of the men and women of Team Shaw, I’d like to invite everybody out to visit the base.”

DIRECTIONS:

From Augusta: From Augusta: take I-20 East, at Columbia take I-26 South around the city. Continue on I-77 South around the city. Next, turn East onto Highway 76/378, continue on 378. Shaw will be on the left and the entrance for Shaw's main gate will be on the right. From Charlotte: From Charlotte: take I-77 South. At Columbia, continue on I-77 South around the city. Turn east onto Highway 76/378. Continue on Highway 378. Shaw will be on the left. The entrance for Shaw's main gate will be on the right. From Raleigh: From Raleigh: take I-40 East. Turn south onto I-95. Turn west onto Highway 378. Continue on Highway 378. Shaw's main gate will be on the right side. From Charleston: From Charleston: take I-26 West. Turn onto I-95 North. Next, turn west onto Highway 378. Continue on 378. Shaw's commercial gate will be on the right. From Myrtle Beach: From Myrtle Beach: take Highway 378 West. When the road comes to a Y, go to the right. Continue on 378 until you see Shaw's commercial gate on the right hand side. From Savannah: From Savannah: take I-95 North. Turn west onto Highway 378. Continue on Highway 378. Shaw's main gate will be on the right side.

SAFETY:

Please come to the show fully hydrated, with sunscreen and prepared to be in the sun for long periods of time.

ITEMS APPROVED ON BASE:

Cameras, video recorders, lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas, small purses/fanny packs, diaper bags, baby strollers/wagons, wheelchairs, guide dogs, water in unopened clear plastic bottles only, alcohol only bought on the premises.

PROHIBITED ITEMS:

Coolers, tents, awnings, pop up/shade canopies, lounge chairs, outside food, firearms, bicycles, backpacks, alcohol, skateboards, pets, knives, explosives and illegal drugs.

HANDICAPPED PARKING:

Handicapped parking will proceed through the main gate of Shaw AFB and park near show center of activities. There are no obstacles once parked near show center.
