Every year, The Humanities Council sponsors the Humanities Festival in a community in South Carolina - Started in 1993 in honor of the Council's 20th Anniversary, the Humanities Festival has been held in Fourteen different South Carolina cities - The Humanities Council has selected Sumter as the host city for the 2011 South Carolina Humanities Festival on October 1 - 9,  2011.

Rain cancels Sumter-Shaw Street Fest

The Sumter-Shaw Street Fest scheduled for Sept. 23 has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

There are no plans to reschedule this year’s event.

"Bad weather is always possible in the South, but it's too bad it had to come today,” said Rob Sexton, community relations manager for Shaw. “Sumter-Shaw Street Fest 2012 planning will get underway soon."
