Amazon donates $20K, Kindles to military support groups in SC

 

Amazon Fulfillment in Columbia announced a donation of more than $20,000 in grants and Kindle devices to military support organization across the Midlands of South Carolina on Monday.

This is a part of Amazon’s continuing national commitment to members of the United States military and their families.

The S.C. Bar Pro Bono Program will sponsor three free legal clinics in Sumter in October. The schedule is as follows:

 

Wednesday, Oct. 10 – Wills, estates and probate, featuring attorney Richard C. Jones. The clinic will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church located at 410 Brand St.

 

Thursday, Oct. 18 – Wills, estates and probate, featuring attorney William A.W. Buxton. The clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Shepherd Center of Sumter located at 24 Council St.

Bank of America is helping its cardholders celebrate Labor Day weekend with Museums on Us, giving bank cardholders free admission to some of the most exciting cultural venues nationwide.

Students Asked to Track Food and Activity Choices for Prizes

Almost one-third of children in the United States are overweight or obese. Making physical activity and better eating a part of daily life is the aim of a back-to-school contest sponsored by local SUBWAY® restaurants. Public, private or home schooled students ages 5 to 14 can participate with parent permission. Kids can pick up a Fresh Start Challenge entry form at participating SUBWAY® restaurants to begin tracking their good food and activity choices. The Fresh Start Challenge ends Sept. 30.
