The Sumter Police Department to Host 2nd Annual "Back To School Bash" August 14th | Community Spirit
The Sumter Police Department is sponsoring its 2nd Annual “Back to School Bash” for local Sumter area elementary school children. The event will take place on Tuesday, August 14 at Croswell Park in Sumter from 10 a.m. – 1p.m. Last year an estimated 500 children came out for the event.
In addition to the Sumter Police Department, several other state and local government agencies, members of the U.S. Air Force and 3rd Army stationed at Shaw AFB and several local area merchants will all come together for a fun filled day of food, games, and other activities. Some of the activities include: food (grilled hot dogs), games, prizes, a water playground, crafts, emergency vehicles display, LIVE radio remote broadcast and “Lexy” the Clown.
Parents and daycares are encouraged to bring the children for an afternoon of fun to get ready for the beginning of a brand new school year, however all children attending the event must be accompanied by an adult.
In addition to the event the Sumter Police Department also has donation bins set up at Sumter area Staples, Walgreens and Dollar General retail stores for anyone who would like to donate school supplies. All donations will be given to the Sumter School District to distribute to students in need.
