University of Phoenix® and Military Police Regimental Association (MPRA), a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services and assistance to Military Police Soldiers and their families around the world, today announced the three nationwide recipients of the 2012 University of Phoenix MPRA scholarships. The full-tuition scholarships were awarded to eligible MPRA members and family members.
Columbia resident Tonya Perry has been named a recipient of the 2012 University of Phoenix MPRA Scholarship and intends to pursue a bachelor’s in business with a concentration in finance. Perry believes that, with this degree, she will be able to bring sound financial counsel to a future employer and help that company play a meaningful role in the local community. Perry’s husband is a Military Police Solider and will be deployed to Afghanistan this year.
“The University of Phoenix is proud to work with the Military Police Regimental Association and provide these scholarship recipients a chance to fulfill their educational goals,” said University of Phoenix Associate Regional Vice President for the Military Division Garland Williams, Ph.D., USA Colonel (ret.). “These scholarships represent an appreciation of the sacrifice the Military Police Soldiers and their families make to protecting our freedom both at home and overseas.”
The 2012 University of Phoenix MPRA Scholarship Program allows each recipient the opportunity to complete a University of Phoenix bachelor’s or master’s degree program. Scholarship recipients will complete their studies at one of the University’s more than 100 locations nationwide or through the University’s online classroom accessible anywhere in the world, thus offering flexible education options to service members and their families.
"The Military Police Regimental Association would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the University of Phoenix,” said Military Police Regimental Association Executive Director Rick Harne. “The contributions and support by this great organization has helped and continues to assist our Soldiers, Families, and Friends of our great Regiment. Thanks for making a difference!”
