Sheriff: Woman kicked deputy in groin during arrest | Crime
Deputies say a Sumter woman got into some hot water after she kicked a deputy in the groin and tried to hit another during an incident at a nightclub early Sunday morning.
Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said 38-year-old Debby Ann Brown-Sly of Dalzell was charged with resisting arrest, assault and battery, public intoxication and driving under suspension around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.
Dennis said Brown-Sly resisted officers' orders to leave a nightclub.
When authorities tried to restrain her, she kicked one deputy in the groin and swung at another officer as she was being handcuffed, Dennis said. Deputies eventually restrained her and put her into a patrol car.
Dennis said the incident happened during a random weekend driver's license check at a club within the county. The weekend activity yielded over $16,000 in fines.
Brown-Sly bonded out of the Sumter-Lee Detention Center Tuesday afternoon on a $50,000 surety bond.
