Peeping Tom arrested for voyeurism at tanning bed | Crime
Sumter Police arrested an employee they say photographed and possibly video recorded at least two women while tanning.
Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Glenn Rodgers Jr. of Mayesville, SC on charges of voyeurism.
Police say on May 08, around 6:00 p.m., a 31-year-old female who was tanning at The Beach Tanning Salon located at 546 S Pike, Sumter, reported to law enforcement that while getting out of a tanning bed, she observed a flash of light coming from above the wall that separates the tanning area room from the lobby area.
According to the report, the victim believed that she was being photographed and possibly video recorded by an employee of the business while tanning.
Police say a friend of the victim who was present at the time observed the employee standing in the area in which the victim stated she saw the camera flash come from.
Rodgers was later identified as the employee responsible for this incident.
Rodgers was arrested and charged with voyeurism and transported to the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center.
Further investigation regarding this incident led to an additional charge for Rodgers for another reported voyeurism incident which occurred on May 7.
According to police, the second charge regarding Rodgers was developed after Detectives working the May 8th incident discovered that on May 7, around 5:00 p.m., a 41-year-old woman who was tanning at The Beach Tanning Salon, observed a cell phone or camera on the top of the wall that separates the tanning area room from the lobby area.
Investigators say the victim in this case believed that she was being video recorded by an employee of the business while tanning.
Through law enforcement’s investigation, Rodgers was identified as the individual committing the May 7th offense.
Rodgers remains at the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center where he is awaiting bond for charges of 2 counts of voyeurism.
