Sheriff: Tip leads to man wanted for stalking, attacking woman | Crime
A citizen’s tip lead to the arrest of a 44-year-old man wanted in reference to a domestic stalking incident.
The Sumter Police Department arrested Richard Perkins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday after detectives say they received information that he was at a residence in Florence, SC. Detectives assisted by Florence City Police Officers located Perkins at a residence in the 500 block of S. Church Street in Florence, the report stated.
Perkins was taken into custody without incident.
According to police, Perkins reportedly had been following a female victim and threatening her with severe bodily harm. The report said Perkins physically attacked the woman at a local Sumter business.
Perkins is charged with stalking and is currently being held at the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center. Detectives say Perkins may face additional charges related to the stalking incident.
