The S.C. Bar Pro Bono Program will sponsor two free legal clinics in the Sumter area in February. The schedule is as follows:

 

Tuesday, Feb. 5 – Wills, estates and probate, featuring attorney Glenn F. Givens. The clinic will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sumter Senior Services Activity Center located at 119 S. Sumter St. in Sumter.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 6 – Wills, estates and probate, featuring attorney Glenn F. Givens. The clinic will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Delaine Community Center located at 5400 Cane Savannah St.

On January 14, 2013, the American Red Cross of the Columbia Region held its Inaugural Legacy Society event at MoMo’s Bistro on Devine Street in Columbia to honor and recognize the official establishment of the local Red Cross Legacy Society.

Red Cross Offers Free International Humanitarian Law Class

The Red Cross invites the public to sign-up for a free class, Humanity in the Midst of War.  The course will take place on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Red Cross, located at 2751 Bull Street, Classroom 2 in Columbia. 

 

The course will teach students about the Geneva Conventions by engaging in hands-on activities and thought-provoking discussions, while exploring the powerful and fundamental concept of human dignity in wartime. The course is free to the public.  To register, please call (803) 514-4084.
