SC officers crack down on drunk driving | News
Title
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - You've heard the slogan before, "Sober or Slammer." But State Law Enforcement officers want you to know they're serious.
They announced a statewide DUI blitz Friday.
In the weeks prior to Labor Day, law enforcement will be cracking down across the state. They said their effort is more than just the commercials you see on TV. "DUI prosecutors all across the state have a responsibility to step up and not just watch these TV ads and not just watch law enforcement work in the middle of the night but to follow through with the prosecution of DUI perpetrators across the state," said the Honorable Daniel E. Johnson of the 5th Judicial Court.
Drunk driving remains one of the leading preventable causes of death in South Carolina. Reports show nationally, one person dies every 50 minutes due to DUI.
