Midlands man arrested on child porn charges | News

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS)- A Sumter man has bonded out of jail after sheriff's deputies say they found several images of child pornography on his computer.

Investigators with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office arrested 54-year-old Edward Doney, Jr. of Bradham Blvd. on Monday after somebody complained that he had photos depicting child pornography on his computer.

After serving a search warrant at Doney's home, investigators said that they found several images of prepubescent and adolescent children.

Doney was charged with 13 counts of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 2 counts of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators do not believe any of the children are from the Midlands.

Doney was released on $7000 bond from the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is a member of the South Carolina Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children's Task Force.

The case is still under investigation.
