SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS)- Sumter County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a double-shooting and stabbing that left one person dead Sunday night.

According to Major Lt. Burnish, the incident happened around 8:40 p.m. near Eagle Road in the Plains Mobile Home Park.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Carlos Diaz approached them to say that his father, Candido Diaz, had been shot and killed during a robbery.

Deputies say 20-year-old Nicholas Temoney broke into the home and shot Carlos Diaz in the thigh. During the struggle, Candido Diaz emerged from the bedroom with a knife, but was shot by Temoney, deputies said.

Carlos Diaz then grabbed the knife and stabbed Temoney twice in the neck before the alleged gunman stole the victim's truck and drove away, according to deputies.

Deputies asked dispatch to call Tuomey Regional Medical Center to be on the lookout for Temoney. Shortly after that call, deputies say Temoney arrived at the hospital with multiple lacerations.

Temoney was scheduled to be released from the hospital Monday afternoon. Deputies said he will be transported to the Sumter/Lee Regional Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
