Midlands man charged with string of business burglaries | News
SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection to several business burglaries in the City of Sumter and faces 20 charges.
Perry Maurice Grant was taken into custody Thursday on Brunhill Street for his involvement in a burglary at Palmetto Veterinary Clinic July 1st. It came after police tried to find him on numerous occasions
While detectives were at the residence on Brunhill Street, they said they collected information and evidence that would link Grant to two burglaries that occurred earlier Thursday morning. The businesses targeted were the Sunoco on North Guinard Drive and the USC Baseball Field on Miller Road.
When Grant was later questioned at the Law Enforcement Center, deputies said Grant admitted his involvement in a number of other burglaries over the past month. Detectives learned that he was responsible for 11 burglaries at Sumter businesses.

6-17-11 - Rite Aid - 225 N. Washington - Burglary 2nd Degree
6-21-11 - Homeward Education Assn. – 6 Professional Court - Burglary 2nd Degree
6-24-11 - Rite Aid - 225 N. Washington - Burglary 2nd Degree
6-26-11 - Corner Pantry - 501 N. Guignard - Burglary 2nd Degree
7-01-11 - Palmetto Veterinary Clinic - 463 N. Guignard Dr. - Burglary 2nd Degree
7-01-11 - Merle Norman Cosmetics - 532 Bultman Drive - Burglary 2nd Degree
7-05-11 – Galloway and Moseley - 444 N. Guignard Drive - Burglary 2nd Degree
7-07-11 – Sunoco - 440 N. Guignard Drive - Burglary 2nd Degree
7-07-11 – USC Baseball Field - 200 Miller Road - Burglary 3rd Degree
Grant was charged with 10 counts of burglary in the second degree, one count of burglary in the third degree, and nine counts of possession of burglary tools.
The investigation continues to see if Grant may be responsible for other burglaries within the city.
Grant has several convictions on his criminal history, according to the police department, which include burglary and strong armed robbery.
