COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Voters will decide next year whether church cake walks and school raffles will finally become legal in South Carolina.
    
Schools, churches and other nonprofits could hold a limited number of raffles yearly under measures approved by the Legislature earlier this month.

South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA) is urging consumers to beware of deed process mailing scams. SC homeowners are receiving official looking letters offering to provide their deed for a fee. The solicitation contains an amount due along with a due date. Many consumers may interpret the letter as a bill or otherwise be inclined to provide the fee for a copy of their deed.

The dates and locations are set for the 2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Program.  Based on surveys, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) has established seven locations across the state making it easy for South Carolina farmers, foresters, nurserymen, golf course operators, and custom applicators to safely dispose of old, outdated, unusable, or unwanted pesticides. The goal of the program is to increase proper management and disposal of unwanted pesticides

On Thursday, University officials and legislators announced that enrollment for Palmetto College is officially under way.
