$5.25 Million S.C. BlueCross Grant presented to S.C. Free Clinics Statewide

The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation presented a check for $5.25 million to the South Carolina Free Clinic Association (SCFCA) here today, enabling the 42 member clinics across the state to have a centralized, integrated and multifaceted support system.

The system will include such functions as establishing a statewide certification program and special projects to implement statewide or regional efforts that would strengthen individual clinics’ capabilities.

Cops: Employee took pictures of women in tanning beds

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - An employee of a Sumter tanning salon is in jail, charged with voyeurism after two different women reported seeing someone possibly taking pictures or video of them while they were tanning.

20-year-old Robert Glenn Rodgers Jr. of Mayesville was arrested after a May 8 incident at The Beach Tanning Salon, located at 546 Pike St.

Police said a 31-year-old woman on Tuesday reported that while getting out of a tanning bed she observed a flash of light coming from above the wall that separates the tanning area room from the lobby area.

State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Mick Zais, announced Tuesday evening at a privately funded celebration that Amy McAllister-Skinner was named the 2012/2013 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. As part of the celebration, BMW Manufacturing, the event’s premier sponsor, handed the Johnsonville High School English teacher the keys to a 2012 Alpine White BMW X3 xDrive35i equipped with the M Sport package.

Sumter Police arrested an employee they say photographed and possibly video recorded at least two women while tanning.

Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Glenn Rodgers Jr. of Mayesville, SC on charges of voyeurism.

Police say on May 08, around 6:00 p.m., a 31-year-old female who was tanning at The Beach Tanning Salon located at 546 S Pike, Sumter, reported to law enforcement that while getting out of a tanning bed, she observed a flash of light coming from above the wall that separates the tanning area room from the lobby area.
