June 13 - 17, the UniverSoul Circus will return to Columbia with a big top thrill-ride infused with an unparalleled global mix of circus artistry, music, dance and style – all inspired by reflections of the world around US.

The UniverSoul Circus 2012 production entitled “US” – featuring Shaolin Kung Fu acrobats from China, bone-breaking contortionists with a hop-hop flair from Guinea, hilarious acrobatic comedy from South Africa, and pro-style hip hop dancers from the United States – will be performing in Columbia in the parking lot Benedict College Football Stadium

A city-wide scavenger hunt to be held April 21

Historic Columbia Foundation is pleased to announce the Great Columbia Quest and Contest, a city-wide scavenger hunt inspired by The Amazing Race. Covering Columbia’s history through the city’s significant sites, the Quest will take place on April 21, 2012 from 10 am – 1 pm.   Participants will encounter challenges, visit historic sites and look for clues about the City’s past.

SC schools to participate in Walk to School Day

Students from schools across South Carolina will be walking and biking to school along with parents, teachers, and community leaders on March 7, 2012, as part of the first annual South Carolina Walk to School Day. Joining Leaphart Elementary walkers will be SC House Representatives Nathan Ballentine and Chip Huggins.
