Archbishop Murphy wins, 45-28

The Archbishop Murphy High School Wildcats faced off against the John F. Kennedy High School Lancers in KOMO 4 News 4 Football Friday game of the week.

The Wildcats took the early lead and never let it go through the game.  For the Wildcats second score of the game, the QB Austin VanderWel passed to his little brother Hans VanderWal putting Archbishop Murphy up 12-7.

Archbishop Murphy was celebrating their tenth anniversary of having a football team with tonight's win.

WESCO Jr Football League kicks off it's season in Edmonds

On Saturday, the WJFL kicked off their season at Edmonds-Woodway Stadium with a full day of football, family, friends, and fun!

WESCO Junior Football League kicks off in Edmonds

Saturday was the start of the WJFL as they hosted the all league jamboree at Edmonds-Woodway Highschool Stadium. The Pee Wee's (5-7 year olds), 89rs (8-9 year olds), Juniors (10-11 year olds), and Seniors (12-14 year olds) all got two 15 minute halves, one on offense and the other on defense.

Teams in the league come from, Cedar Park Christian, Edmonds, Everett, Glacier PeakLake Stevens, Lynnwood, Meadowdale, Mukilteo, MTYAA, Snohomish, and Stanwood.

Team parents were selling hotdogs, sodas, t-shirts, nachos and hats. The parents are really involved in this league and have a great way of showing their support. Fans including parents and siblings sported team uniforms, players names and clothes or pom poms in the team colors!

This was a great kick off to football season! 

Everyone leaves a 'wiener' at red carpet dog rally

STAR 101.5's Kent and Allen hosted a red carpet rally ahead of the 14th Annual Kent and Allen Wiener Dog Race at the Emerald Downs this Saturday.

Today was the last chance to nab two spots for the final race.

Congratulations goes to Piper and Jacob for winning the last two spots, and go on to have a chance at winning a weekend of accommodations at a Kimpton hotel, two year’s worth of dog treats, and, of course, guaranteed spot in next year’s Kent & Alan Wiener Dog Races.

Tenino pool open for season

Looking to cool off?

The Tenino pool is open Wednesday through Sunday between noon and 7 p.m.

If you live in the Tenino School District, admission is fifty cents. It’s $2 for people who live outside the district.

The pool is located at 399 West Park Ave. Family season passes are available at Tenino City Hall.

 

Semipro football coming to Tenino Saturday

The high school football season is still a few months away, but there will plenty of action on the field at Tenino High School this Saturday.

The Washington Cavaliers will meet the Tacoma Invaders at 6 p.m. for a semipro football donnybrook.

The Cavaliers' 36-man roster is made up of many former high school player from Thurston County. It's their last home game of the season.

Food will be sold at the game and proceeds go to support the Tenino High School band.

 

Summer basketball camps in full swing

Lacey Tingstad just wrapped up her first week ever of basketball camp at Meadowdale Highschool in the Edmonds school district. Lacey's mom, Janelle said, "This is Lacey's first time ever playing and she's loving it! Coach McGuire is great with these kids!"

Speaking of Coach McGuire, he's got all of his Varsity and Junior Varsity teams out there helping him coach.
