Palmetto Tennis Center (PTC) in Sumter, South Carolina will host the 2011 USTA Jr. Team Tennis State Championships on July 15th – 17th.

Warm-ups are available to begin at 8:00 am and the Swim Meet starts at 9:30 am. All entries must be received by Wednesday, July 27,2011 by 5pm. Entry fee is $5.00 and $2.00 for each individual event. Limit 4 relays $1.00. General admission for spectators is $1.00. Swimmers will swim a variety of 29 events with a variation of strokes from the crawl, breast stroke to the butterfly and more! Sumter P-15’s will take on Camden on July 1 at 7 p.m. at the  Riley Park North Church Street.

Tickets for individual games are $5 for adults and $3 for school children.

SC athletes heading to Greece for world competition

It's a trip one group of South Carolina athletes won't forget.

The eight individuals met at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport Saturday morning to board a flight. Their destination is the Special Olympics World Summer Games.

They'll meet up with other Team USA members in Baltimore first before their final flight to Greece.

The group couldn't leave without a celebration though. A send-off reception was held at Williams-Brice Stadium Friday evening to wish the athletes good luck and safe travels.

World Invitational Double Dutch Championship Returns To Sumter

On June 16-18, the South Carolina Double Dutch Board, the Sumter County Recreation Department, the City of Sumter, the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, and the American Double Dutch League will celebrate the 38th Annual World Invitational Double Dutch Championship at the Sumter County Civic Center 700 West Liberty Street, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The First day will be preliminaries and second day will be free style.

More than one hundred athletes nationwide and in foreign countries have participated in Double Dutch programs for the chance to compete in the World Invitational Ch
