South Carolina’s gasoline prices have dropped 72 cents a gallon since peaking May 5, providing a Christmas present for the 1.17 million South Carolina motorists expected to drive more than 50 miles from home this holiday season, according to AAA Carolinas.
The 11-day year-end holiday will see 1,270,000 South Carolinians traveling with 92% driving (1.17 million), 6% flying (76,200) and 2% traveling by other means (25,400) – a 3% increase over last year’s travel totals.
