Sumter man predicts lottery win

A Sumter man said he was going to win the Lottery and a half hour later he delivered.

“I just knew I was going to win,” he explained.

Two witnesses back up his story.

After working the night shift, the psychic and two co-workers stopped in at Lees Grocery in Sumter to hang out and scratch a few lotto tickets. One of the fellows won $100.  Right on cue, our winner picked out one worth $200,000.

“I’m a lucky guy,” he said.

“I didn’t win anything,” confessed the co-worker that gave him a ride to Columbia to cash in the Platinum Payout ticket.

Red Cross mobilizes supplies and volunteers as Hurricane Irene approaches

Hurricane Irene, the first hurricane of the season, is expected to make landfall along the eastern shores later this week with winds gusting as high as 150 mph.  The American Red Cross is getting ready for a full East Coast response by preparing shelters for evacuees, pre-positioning numerous emergency response vehicles and disaster supplies, and mobilizing disaster workers to parts of the country expected to see impact from this large storm.
