Authorities arrested 12 people and seized more than $200,000 in cash, after a four month undercover narcotic operation.
Investigators with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division with the assistance of the Sumter Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a four month undercover operation in the Statesburg / Wedgefield areas of Sumter County.
According to investigators, 19-year-old Telvin Williams, 50-year-old Jacqueline White, 22-year-old Harold Huggins, 22-year-old Gregory Sigler, 24-year-old Justin Sigler, 31-year-old Sherelle Grant, 35-year-old Tony Yates, 23-year-old Angelo Daniels, 24-year-old Shantae Hough, 47-year-old James Hall, 44-year-old Regla Cabrero and 58-year-old Angel Hernandez Miel were arrested.
Investigators also executed search warrants at two locations where approximately ½ pound of marijuana valued at $1000.00 and approximately 8 grams of crack cocaine valued at $1600.00 was seized.
Authorities also say a man and women traveling on I95 South were stopped after a traffic offense. Officers say the couple gave them consent to search their vehicle. During the search, a quantity of cocaine was found and a large sum of cash was discovered concealed inside the rear hatchback door, according to a news release. Officers seized approximately 13 grams of cocaine valued at $1300.00 and approximately two grams of marijuana valued at $20.00 from the vehicle stop.
Officers say approximately $215,000 in cash was placed in an interest bearing account pending forfeiture proceedings.
