A traffic stop on Interstate 95 led to the arrests of three men and the confiscation of 45 pounds of synthetic marijuana.

Deputies have charged 28-year-old Adnan Ahmed, 26-year-old  Zeeshan Ali Ghani and 31-year-old  Salman Ali Yousuf with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute a schedule I controlled substance.

According to Sumter County Sheriff's Office, deputies pulled over a rented 2012 Chevrolet Equinox with three men inside for speeding on Friday.

Deputies say when the officers approached the car's window they observed marijuana and blunt wrapping paper in plain view and initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Upon the search, officers discovered 10 grams of marijuana and five suitcases containing a substance known as "Spice," or synthetic marijuana.

Deputies say an estimated 45 pounds of Spice were seized in 1- to 12-gram individually wrapped packets.

Officers also seized about $13,797 in cash and Western Union money orders.

All three occupants in the vehicle were arrested at the scene.
