The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Sumter men following an undercover investigation.

The report said on Tuesday, Oct. 23, officers with the Sumter County Sheriff’ s Office conducted an undercover operation and arrested 34-year-old Lamont Durant and 29-year-old Fernando Stewart.
Deputies say they received information that Durant was traveling in a vehicle on North Main in had in his possession crack cocaine.
Around 6:50 p.m., deputies observed Durant and Stewart turn into the El Cheapo gas station where officers conducted a traffic stop, the report stated.
Deputies detained the pair and searched the vehicle.
Upon the search, officers located a digital scale with cocaine residue on it, and cocaine in plain view in the center console of the car, deputies say.
Deputies seized 21 grams of cocaine, 8 grams of crack cocaine, and one gram of marijuana, the report stated.
According to sheriff’s deputies, Durant claimed ownership of the crack cocaine and Stewart admitted to having the cocaine.
Both were arrested and transported to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
