Photo Gallery | Operation Safe Sweep: 27 arrested in 2 days

 Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested twenty-seven individuals following a two-day joint forces tactic.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that on Monday, February 4, and Tuesday, February 5, 2013 the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, United Stated States Marshal Services, The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Orangeburg County Sheriff’s office, and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department worked together to apprehend criminals wanted for sex crimes, and failure to register as sex offenders. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that this two-day initiative dubbed “Operation Safe Sweep” netted twenty-seven arrests, and cleared thirty-eight outstanding warrants. The Sheriff added that these operations make significant impact on taking fugitives from our neighborhoods.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that one example of the arrests, during the operation, officers while attempting to serve a warrant in the City of Columbia, observed a vehicle in the back yard with two unclothed individuals inside (24-year-old Kevin Alvarez and a 12-year-old victim) Alvarez was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

·        Kevin Alvarez (DOB: 03/29/1988) ….Criminal sexual conduct with a minor

·        William Anders (DOB: 09/30/1982 ) …Criminal Domestic Violence/Resisting arrest/Traffic violation

·        Jeffrey Hopkins (DOB: 10/03/1960) ...Three bench warrants for traffic violations

·        Orlando Cole (DOB: 07/22/1972) …Threatening the life of a public official  

·        Dujuan Glymph (DOB: 07/27/1982)…Burglary 1st/Criminal Domestic Violence

·        James M. Payne (DOB: 02/12/1979) …Shoplifting/Disorderly conduct

·        Robert M Payne (DOB: 04/01/1983) …Indecent Exposure

·        Perry B. Anderson (DOB: 03/31/1974) …Two warrants for assault and battery

·        Jonathan Jordan (DOB: 04/27/1991) …Assault and Battery/Kidnapping

·        Christopher Anders (DOB: 08/15/1992) …Kidnapping

·        Alton Dunn (DOB: 08/09/1989) …Fugitive from justice  

·        Byron Gilyard (DOB: 10/20/1970) …Breach of Trust

·        Malcolm Price (DOB: 12/10/1987) …Simple possession of marijuana/Failure to surrender plates/traffic violation
