SUMTER, SC (WIS) - After a three-month long investigation into illegal drugs and alcohol sales in different areas of Sumter County, Investigators & Deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the SCDPP Service (Probation & Parole) and S.L.E.D. (State Law Enforcement Division) conducted several raids on suspected drug & alcohol houses and residences believed to be selling crack cocaine, marijuana, cocaine, liquor, moonshine, beer and wine.
During the searches, officers seized more than 72 cases of beer (1726 cans), 198 bottles of liquor, 4 bottles of suspect Moonshine, 1762.1 grams (3 pounds 14 ounces & 26 grams) of suspect marijuana, (street value $17620.00), 37.1 grams of suspect crack cocaine, (street value $3700.00.), 19.0 grams of cocaine, (street value of $1900.00) Deputies also seized $5217.00 in U.S. Currency, several digital scales, pipes, grinders, a 38 S/W revolver, a Taurus 45 cal. handgun, a Kel-tec 40 cal. handgun, an American Tactical 45 cal. handgun, 40 controlled prescription pills, and other items related to illegal drug activity. Deputies recovered the following stolen weapons; two Ruger 9mm handguns, a Glock .357 handgun, a Glock 45 cal. handgun, A Para-Ordinance 45 cal. handgun, and a Springfield XD9 9mm handgun.
All suspects were transported without incident to the Sumter / Lee Detention Center. Deputies searched residences & Businesses at 985 North Saint Paul Church Road, 706 Point Drive, 1015 David Alston Road, 1087 E Cherryvale Drive, 1033 Roosevelt Circle, 37 Webb Avenue, 1095 Boulevard Road, 1101 Montana Drive, 675 Bernice Court, 3740 & 3750 Broad Street.
So far, a total of 40 men & women have been arrested during this nine-day operation. Other suspects were arrested at these locations with outstanding warrants. The investigation into illegal drug and alcohol sales in the Sumter County area will continue with more arrests and raids to come.
Deputies are still searching for the following suspects: Larry Obrien Archie, 26; Kalvin Singletary, 23; Jamaal T. Jackson, 33; and Michael A. Durant, 38.
