A family of seven is homeless after a Monday morning fire destroys their mobile home, according to fire officials.

According to Sumter’s Fire Captain Brian Horton, they received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. from neighbors that a mobile home located on Highway 261 south in Wedgefield was engulfed in flames.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, officials say 75 percent of the home was on fire.

Captain Horton says that this was an electrical fire and damages are estimated at $10,000.

No one was home at the time of the fire.
